Things to do in Riyadh
Riyadh is where you sleep, not a day trip in itself: Olaya, Al Malqa and KAFD cover the modern city, with the Kingdom Centre's Sky Bridge at 302 metres and Boulevard City hosting Riyadh Season through the winter.
The old quarter, Al Dirah, holds Masmak Fortress, taken in 1902 by Abdulaziz Ibn Saud, a full 30 years before the kingdom's 1932 founding, plus Deera Square, Qasr Al Hukm and Souq Al Zal.
Traffic runs heavy at peak hours, so budget accordingly between sights; the Riyadh Metro, opened in stages from December 2024, reaches the airport. Diriyah, Edge of the World and the Red Sand Dunes sit outside the city and get their own pages.
