Things to do at Edge of the World
Edge of the World (Jebel Fihrayn) is a Tuwaiq escarpment roughly 90-100 kilometres northwest of Riyadh, and the drive takes about two to two and a half hours each way, with the final stretch on desert track that requires a 4x4 rather than a rental sedan.
That rules out a casual afternoon trip: this is not 30 minutes from the city, and there is no sea view from the cliff edge, whatever some listings imply. There are no guardrails at the escarpment, so keep well back from the edge, especially with children.
Access rules and opening periods shift, with closures during the hottest months already happening, so check before you go rather than trusting a fixed schedule. Sunset is the best time to arrive, once the heat has eased and the light flattens the desert floor below.
